Obama AngryObama Justice Department threatens banks in attempt to shut down legal gun sales.

In his unrelenting effort to ban guns and gun sales, Obama teamed up with anti-gun activists in the Justice Department to harass banks doing business with gun dealers.

“Operation Choke Point,” was introduced to shut down gun sales to law-abiding citizens by closing the bank accounts of legal gun dealers.

The Washington Examiner reported:

The House voted Thursday to end Operation Choke Point, the Department of Justice initiative involving banks to crack down on fraud and money laundering.

A bill that would prevent banking regulators from forcing banks to close the accounts of customers suspected of engaging in illegal activity unless they have material cause passed the House, 250-169.

All Republicans, who have described Operation Choke Point as a violation of due process, voted in favor of the bill, as did 10 Democrats.

The agenda was sold to the public as an operation targeting suspected criminals and money launderers – with the Justice Department defining suspected criminals and money launderers to potentially include any American engaged in a legal sale of a legal fire arm.

Gun Owners of America explains how the program works:

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), at the behest of Barack Obama, has declared that gun stores are “high risk” businesses. “High risk” businesses have been, up until now, a small category of supposedly disreputable businesses, which have included pornographers, sellers of drug paraphernalia, and payday lenders.

The second step in the process is Eric Holder’s Justice Department’s “Operation Choke Point.” And its function is specifically to choke off any credit or credit card processing for businesses (now including gun dealers) that fall in the “high risk” category.

Already, scores of gun dealers have complained that their banks have cut their credit or otherwise put pressure on them.

Obama has threatened to veto the bill, but Congress is unmoved.

“For legally constituted businesses to have to fear that in the dark of night they’re going to be shut down by the awesome power of the Obama Administration is an outrage,” said Financial Services Committee Chairman Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX).

“If there was any justice in the Obama Justice Department, someone would be indicted over Operation Choke Point.”
