Some in Congress are itching to make a move against President Trump.
And it includes impeachment.
One prominent conservative is sending out the warning that shadowy forces are waiting to remove Trump from office.
Democrats – and some establishment Republicans – hate Trump.
He ran as an outsider and so far has governed in a manner consistent with his campaign pledge to shake up Washington.
And not everyone is happy about it.
Anti-Trump elites are hunting around for ways to damage his Presidency.
Hugh Hewitt – a conservative talk show host – is warning that Democrats are preparing the grounds to impeach Trump.
“Tuesday on Yahoo News, conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt said while he does not believe the foreign emoluments clause of the Constitution is a problem with President Donald Trump’s hotel for example, he is still on “constitutional thin ice,” with congressional Democrats, who are looking for a business conflict of interest to impeach the president if they win the majority in the 2018 midterms.
Hewitt said, “A Democratic congressman introduced an article of impeachment already. So if President Trump gets wiped out in 2018 … and if, in fact, Democrats get a majority, Republicans will not throw themselves in front of a train to stop it. So President Trump has to be aware of the constitutional thin ice on which he skates.”
He added, “I think it would occur after midterms and only if the House flips to the Democrats. So the potential is there, yes. If you abuse power, if you do anything — you don’t have a lot of goodwill in the reservoir. He’s beginning his presidency successfully in my view with a few very bold initiatives, but with the highest negatives of any incoming president since Gallup kept track. That says to me: thin ice, move carefully.”
Democrats have falsely harped on the emoluments clause of the Constitution to claim Trump is creating a crisis.
Article I, Section 9, Clause 8 of the Constitution reads:
“No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.”
Democrats argue that foreign government officials staying at Trump’s hotel in D.C. violate the emolument clause by virtue of them paying for their stay.
But Trump isn’t accepting a title of any kind.
Nor is he accepting a gift.
Anyone who stays at the Trump Hotel is paying for services rendered.
And Trump’s adult children – Donald Jr. and Eric – are in charge of the business.
Trump in no way benefits from any transaction.
But that will not stop the left from employing any tactic to try and force Trump from office.
