Donald Trump labeled CNN “very fake news.”

They constantly live down to that reputation.

Their latest over-hyped bust of a story was a misleading attack on Jeff Sessions.

Russia hysteria is in full bloom on CNN.

They are hunting around every corner in Washington for ties between the Trump administration and Russia to hype up their fake news conspiracy-theories.

That was never more evident than in a “bombshell” report where they claimed Sessions didn’t include meetings with the Russian ambassador on his security clearance form.

The SF86 disclosure form asks the applicant to list any contacts with representatives of a foreign government that the applicant or their family may have had in the last seven years.

Sessions did not list two previously reported meetings with the Russian ambassador — one in his Senate office and one at the GOP convention in Cleveland — on his form.

CNN treated this as a major development.

There is just one problem.

Sessions didn’t list any of the meetings he had with ambassadors in his official capacity as a Senator on his security clearance application.

Furthermore, the Department of Justice explained Sessions consulted with the FBI agent conducting the background check and was informed he would not have to list any meetings that took place under official Senate business.

Breitbart reported:

“DOJ spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores told CNN that Sessions did not list any of the dozens of ambassadors he met over years of being a senator.

Shortly after CNN ran their story, which quoted a Washington attorney who claimed that he would advise a client to disclose all official meetings, the Justice Department issued a press release firing back at the implication of wrongdoing.

Attributed to DOJ Deputy Director of Public Affairs Ian Prior, the response read:

As a United States Senator, the Attorney General met hundreds—if not thousands—of foreign dignitaries and their staff. In filling out the SF-86 form, the Attorney General’s staff consulted with those familiar with the process, as well as the FBI investigator handling the background check, and was instructed not to list meetings with foreign dignitaries and their staff connected with his Senate activities.”

This was another ridiculous hit-piece by CNN.

Sessions’ only crime was working for Trump.

He did nothing wrong and followed the course of action approved by investigators.

And this was also an old story.

The news broke months ago and Democrats tried to claim Sessions lied in his confirmation testimony about not having met with the Russians as part of the Trump campaign.

This was true.

His meetings were on official Senate business.

That didn’t matter as CNN blared out headlines about how these new revelations added smoke to the Russia fire.

They did no such thing.

But CNN clearly saw the Russia-Trump collusion story withering away, so they acted to keep it on life support.
