The state of California has hired former Obama Attorney General Eric Holder in an attempt to combat policies they fear will undermine their liberal ideologies under the incoming Trump administration.

California legislators are spending taxpayer dollars on Holder’s new position, hiring him and his law firm to take on challenges to the leftist policies embraced by the state — policies President-elect Trump has vowed to change.

Judicial Watch reported:

“When it comes to public policy, the Obama Justice Department has been a locus of evil.  And therefore it was concerning to see that the man who ran that Obama agency for years, the disgraced Eric Holder, has gotten himself a new, government-related gig.  On January 4 liberal California legislative leaders announced that they are using tax dollars to hire former Attorney General Eric Holder and his law firm to assist them in anticipated federal challenges to several state policies such as climate change and immigration.  Leftists controlling the Democratic Party are especially concerned that a new Trump administration might actually start enforcing the rule of law against California’s dangerous and unlawful sanctuary policies.  Evidently, Eric Holder will waste taxpayer funds defending this lawlessness.”

Holder is no stranger to defying the law, becoming the first sitting Cabinet member to be held in contempt of Congress by refusing to turn over subpoenaed documents related to the Fast and Furious scandal.

California has always been a liberal state and was very supportive of Hillary Clinton in her bid for the presidency.

The concerns of state legislators include keeping their “sanctuary cities” to protect illegal immigrants, healthcare, and “climate change” legislation.

The leftist politicians in California seem to think they can continue to defy the law of the land and ignore policies put in place by the incoming president and the Republican-controlled Congress.

State legislators have seemingly decided not to try to work with the Trump administration for the good of the state and the nation, instead acting like a sovereign nation who will protect their liberal ideologies at any cost.

The L.A. Times reported:

Bracing for an adversarial relationship with President-elect Donald Trump, the California Legislature has selected former U.S. Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder Jr. to serve as outside counsel to advise the state’s legal strategy against the incoming administration.

The unusual arrangement will give Holder, leading a team of attorneys from the firm Covington & Burling, a broad portfolio covering potential conflicts between California and the federal government.

“He will be our lead litigator, and he will have a legal team of expert lawyers on the issues of climate change, women and civil rights, the environment, immigration, voting rights — to name just a few,” Senate leader Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) said in an interview.

It is telling that the California state legislators want to bring in a ‘D.C. insider’ to combat challenges they foresee by the federal government.

President-elect Trump has promised change, and that change terrifies California.

The state wants to continue on the path President Obama created — one that Californians hoped to stay on when they voted for Hillary Clinton in the general election – which is a complete disregard for the law and the safety of U.S. citizens.

Republican leadership in the state declare this to be a wasted effort, which distracts from policies aimed at improving the nation and the lives of its citizens.

The L.A. Times reported:

Republicans, who are outnumbered by Democratic supermajorities in both houses of the Legislature, chafed at the announcement. Assembly GOP leader Chad Mayes of Yucca Valley dismissed the hiring as a stunt.

“This is a distraction from the very real problems facing everyday Californians. Donald Trump did not cause California’s transportation crisis, nor did he play a role in our state’s sky-high housing costs. Democrats should focus on solving these real-world problems instead of wasting tax-payer money to score political points before the president-elect even takes office,” Mayes said in a statement.

He noted that Becerra, “the state’s incoming Attorney General has spent decades in Washington working on federal policies. It’s not clear why legislative Democrats needed to hire a D.C. insider to litigate the exact same issues.”

Liberal California politicians bringing in corrupt former Attorney General Holder seems like a slap in the face when the need is to unite the United States under our new president.
