The media, Democrats, and establishment Republicans have all denounced Donald Trump with harsh terms.

They casually hurl labels such as “fascist”, “racist”, “misogynist”, “xenophobe”, and “bigot” at the presumptive Republican nominee.

But the hatred they vocalize may have been what encouraged an illegal immigrant to try and assassinate Trump during a Las Vegas rally.

Many opponents of Trump claim his rhetoric “inspires violence”.

Yet the violent conduct seen at Trump rallies has been the anti-Trump demonstrators attacking rally attendees.

The violence of Trump’s opponents reached a frightening level when a 19-year-old – who was in the country illegally on an expired visa – was arrested after reaching for a police officer’s gun and intending to use it to kill Trump.

CNN reports:

“Police arrested the 19-year-old after he attempted to pull a police officer’s gun from its holster inside a Las Vegas theater where Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, was holding a campaign rally.

Police said Michael Sandford, a Briton, struck up a conversation with a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officer under the pretense that he was seeking to get an autograph. During the conversation, police said Sandford tried to pull the officer’s service weapon from its holster.

Other officers also assigned to provide security at the event were quickly able to detain Sandford and authorities said there was no further disruption to the event.

Sandford told police that he drove to Las Vegas from California “to kill Trump,” according to the complaint, after hearing a few days earlier in the news that he was expected there.

He was in the country illegally, his visa having expired. He had been living out of his car in California for a month, according to CNN affiliate KSNV.”

The media and many Republicans led by Speaker Paul Ryan criticize the tone of Trump’s campaign while, at the same time, blast his strong stances like securing our borders as being un-American.

But when an illegal immigrant takes their words to heart and attempts to kill Donald Trump, there is scant media attention.

There were no lectures from Obama, Ryan, or any other media figures about the dangerous rhetoric Donald Trump’s opponents are using to describe him and his campaign.

In fact, the media and other politicians remain largely silent on the matter.

Many conservatives see this refusal of taking Trump’s opponents to task for inspiring madness as hypocritical.

They believe such modest media coverage would be unheard of if it were a deranged Republican showing up at a Hillary rally and attempting anything similar.

In reality, the media would likely never stop talking about the hate Republicans have for Hillary and how it’s time to dial down their rhetoric.

Even fellow Republicans would denounce any violence toward their political opponent.

But when it’s Trump who is the target of an assassination attempt, the reaction from the media elite and establishment politicians on both sides is just a shrug of the shoulders.

Why are the media and politicians giving this story as little attention as possible?

Do they believe that an illegal immigrant trying to kill Trump will drive sympathy to his campaign and increase his chances of winning the Presidency?
