There is one mystery at the center of the Russia investigation.

Is there any actual evidence of collusion?

One witness could put the Russia story to bed for good.

One of the big stories that kicked off the whole collusion story was CNN and BuzzFeed reporting on the Christopher Steele memo.

Steele was an ex-British intelligence agent who was commissioned by Fusion GPS – which received support from backers of Hillary Clinton’s campaign – to compile a dossier on information about Trump and Russia.

Steele’s work included scandalous accusations about sexual activities, collusion and compromising information.

The dossier was unverified and later proven to be fake news.

FBI Director James Comey briefed Trump on the existence of the memo.

There have also been questions concerning whether the FBI used the memo as the basis for their investigation into allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, and if the Bureau paid Steele for his work.

These questions can be answered when Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson testifies before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Politico reported:

“The co-founder of the opposition-research firm that commissioned a Donald Trump dossier is set to testify next Wednesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Glenn Simpson, co-founder of Fusion GPS, is set to appear as one of several witnesses at a hearing on enforcement of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, the committee announced Wednesday.

Simpson’s firm in 2015 commissioned Christopher Steele, a former British intelligence agent, to dig up opposition research on then-candidate Trump.

Steele’s salacious and largely unsubstantiated findings were later leaked to news outlets and published by BuzzFeed.

The dossier alleges Trump and his campaign colluded with the Russian government to damage Hillary Clinton.

Earlier Wednesday, Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) indicated that he wanted former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort to appear at next week’s hearing, but Manafort is not on the witness list.”

Simpson’s testimony could change the course of the entire Russia investigation.

If it is revealed the FBI was paying for fake information to discredit Donald Trump and then using it as the basis to investigate his campaign, the media’s Russia narrative will suffer a serious blow.

It could destroy the credibility of the probe and increase calls for special counsel Robert Mueller to wrap up his work.

Simpson’s testimony could also expose the FBI’s role in the Deep State plot against Trump.

The Russia scandal is fake news.

And Simpson’s testimony could go a long way toward exposing how this hoax originated.
