UPDATE:

After this report was published it was John McCain’s office announced he has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. We ask you to join us in praying for his recovery and keeping his family in your thoughts.

Republicans in Congress are sputtering in their quest to repeal Obamacare.

And their task just got even more difficult.

That’s because something unthinkable has happened to John McCain.

Republican leadership is backtracking on their promise to repeal Obamacare.

The bill they are promoting sands-off only some of the edges of the socialist government scheme while still bailing out insurance companies and leaving Obamacare’s taxes in place.

They are attempting to use reconciliation to pass the bill which requires 51 votes.

With Rand Paul and Susan Collins as firm “no” votes, GOP leadership can’t suffer even one more defection.

So when John McCain announced he was having surgery to remove a blood clot in his eye, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was forced to delay the vote on his Obamacare-lite bill.

McCain’s surgery will involve at least a week of rest, which stalls the momentum behind McConnell’s bill.

CNN reports:

“McCain’s surgery was a minimally invasive craniotomy, or a surgical opening into the skull, with an eyebrow incision, a statement from his office said, adding that McCain, 80, is resting at his home.

“His Mayo Clinic doctors report that the surgery went ‘very well’ and he is in good spirits,” his office said. “Once the pathology information is available, further care will be discussed between doctors and the family.”

“The operation seems to have gone well, but one thing worth noting is that Senator McCain has a history of invasive melanoma in and around that area,” said CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta.

Doctors now are waiting for the results of a tissue pathology analysis to determine more information about the blood clot, McCain’s office said, adding they will release more details as information becomes available.

Doctors ordered a week of rest, the statement from McCain’s office said.”

After McConnell announced he was delaying the vote, Senators Mike Lee and Jerry Moran announced their opposition to the GOP leadership’s plan to preserve Obamacare.

McConnell then announced he would hold a vote on the 2015 legislation which the GOP Congress has sent to Obama’s desk that was just a straight repeal bill.

Trump tweeted his support for this proposal.

While McCain is recovering from his surgery, grassroots conservatives will only increase their efforts to urge Republican leadership to ditch their plan to keep Obamacare in place and instead heed Trump’s call to immediately repeal Obamacare now.
