Democrats have spoken about the impeachment of President Trump for months following his inauguration.

No one took them seriously, until now.

Another member of Congress has now presented a case for the impeachment of President Trump – begging the question, should he be worried?

Brad Sherman (D-CA) circulated articles of impeachment for President Trump last week, on the claims he obstructed justice during several federal investigations.

Sherman shared his statement regarding the impeachment procedures via his Twitter account:

While Sherman argues President Trump tried to interfere in the Mike Flynn case, former FBI Director James Comey’s recent testimony debunked that claim.

The Daily Caller reported:

The article argues that Trump sought to use his authority to interfere with investigations into possible criminal violations of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and Russian interference in the 2016 presidential campaign.

Sherman’s article claims that in order to hinder or terminate the criminal investigations, Trump asked former FBI Director James Comey to cut short the Flynn investigation, and then fired Comey to relieve the pressure of the Russia investigation.

Sherman is not the first Democrat to push for impeachment.

Al Green (D-TX) released articles of impeachment against Trump as well, again for an arguably weak reason that does not seem to warrant federal investigation, much less impeachment procedures.

But even these Democrats know the foolishness of their plan.

With a Republican majority in Congress, articles of impeachment are not likely to pass, especially when President Trump did not carry out any obstruction of justice.

The Daily Caller reported:

The vote is doomed to fail, Sherman admitted in his statement, since Democrats are a minority in the House. As of press time, it had not been introduced in the House.

“I have no illusions. Articles of Impeachment will not pass the House in the near future,” he said. “But given the risk posed to the Republic, we should move things forward as quickly as possible.”

The U.S. Constitution states that the president must have engaged in and be convicted of treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors in order to be impeached. However, it is not limited to just criminal behavior. It can also be attributed to “(1) improperly exceeding or abusing the powers of the office; (2) behavior incompatible with the function and purpose of the office; and (3) misusing the office for an improper purpose or for personal gain,” according to the Congressional Research Service.

The House must initiate impeachment proceedings, and the Senate is charged with carrying out impeachment trials.

Regardless of the Democrats foolish plan, President Trump need not be worried.

He has proven time and time again to be working in the best interest of the American people, and not just to please the Washington bureaucrats.

For now, President Trump is safe, and continues to work in the interest of the people, not Deep State bureaucrats.
