Megyn Kelly made a massive mistake when she picked a fight with Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign.

After alienating her Fox News audience by personally attacking Trump, Kelly fled to NBC.

And it’s backfired in a massive way that no one saw coming.

NBC handed Kelly a $69 million contract and two new shows – one on Sunday night and a daytime talk show.

Her Sunday night news magazine program tanked in the ratings and was pulled from the air before its ten episode run concluded.

Now her new daytime talk show is plagued with poor reviews, cringe worthy interviews, and poor ratings.

But that isn’t even the worst of Kelly’s and NBC’s problems.

Her new show is also dragging down the rest of NBC’s daytime lineup.

The 10AM hour of the Today Show – which is anchored by Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb – is getting sucked down from the undertow of Kelly’s lousy ratings.

The New York Post reports:

“The numbers are in, and “Megyn Kelly Today” is dragging down the “Today” show franchise, an insider explained to Page Six.

“Not only are ratings plummeting since Megyn Kelly joined the ‘Today’ franchise, but the numbers show Kelly’s lead-in has also affected Kathie Lee [Gifford] and Hoda Kotb’s show, which follows straight afterwards,” a source said.

“They’ve taken a huge hit with Megyn as their lead-in,” the insider added.

Kelly’s hour of “Today” is down 32 percent compared to a year ago. And “Kathie Lee & Hoda” is down 26 percent.

“Too many people are tuning out NBC. Hoda and Kathie Lee had been a bright spot in the mornings. People are alarmed,” the source said of the slide. Another source told us that “Today” talent is concerned.

“The format for Megyn’s show doesn’t make sense. Her show distracts from the ‘Today’ franchise,” the second source said.

Making matters worse, Kelly split from power publicist Leslee Dart last month, and she’s been dogged by controversy from her awkward Debra Messing flap and Jane Fonda interview.”

Kelly’s move to NBC has been a disaster.

She has no core audience.

Kelly drove away her Fox News audience, and the liberals who watch NBC will never forgive her for working at Fox in the first place.

So it’s not surprising her ratings are tanking.

But no one at NBC expected her to drag down the rest of the network’s lineup.

How will NBC wiggle out of this disaster?
