Do you remember how often Obama embarrassed the United States? He would often put on the hook for a task like defending a country, but then when push came to shove, he would concede? Our enemies walked all over us and our allies were hesitant to even stand with us. Everyone knew that President Obama wasn’t going to do much it challenged. It was classic beta male behavior.
It’s why Obama felt comfortable on The View, but wouldn’t confront leaders who wronged America or harmed their own.
So on Friday April 7, President Trump sent a message to the world that Teddy Roosevelt would have been proud of.
After reports surfaced that indicated Bashar Al-Assad attacked his own people with chemical weapons, Donald Trump ordered a strike on the airfield where the weapons clame from and launched 59 Tomahawk missles to wipe out jets that launched the strike.
“Tonight, I ordered a targeted military strike on the air field in Syria from where the chemical attack was launched,” […] It is in this vital national security of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons.”
But as the UN has looked into it, they don’t think it was Bashar. In fact, over the last three years, chemical attacks have included Syrian soldiers as the victims.
The attacks of March 19, August 24 and August 25, 2013 upon Syrian government soldiers indicate that the rebels were in possession of sarin both before and immediately after the chemical weapon attack at Ghouta of August 21, 2013. It would have been virtually impossible for the rebels to acquire chemical weapons so quickly in late August had they not already previously been in possession of chemical weapons.
The UN actually points to the “opposition” as those who might have had the ability to attack Syrians.
According to Seymour Hersh, December 19 ( published in The London Review of Books),
“already by late May, the senior (US) intelligence consultant told me, the CIA had briefed the Obama administration on al-Nusra and its work with sarin, and had sent alarming reports that another Sunni fundamentalist group active in Syria, al-Qaida in Iraq (AQI), also understood the science of producing sarin.
So President Trump might have had the correct motive in securing America’s interests, but he might have gone after the wrong target.
You see, the opposition is more closely linked to ISIS than we might imagine. If the CIA is reporting another Sunni fundamentalist group was the one with the knowledge to create sarin gas, Trump should have been bombing the hell of out of ISIS. Currently, they are holed up in cities like Raqqa and Mosul, Iraq.
But Trump did not target ISIS; Rather he targeted Syria. And it seems the only saving grace for avoiding a full out confrontation is that the USA alerted Russia before we went in. Otherwise, we would be looking at the ratcheting up of alliances and a possible full scale war.
