Donald Trump won the GOP nomination on the strength of his tough positions on illegal immigration.

He pledged to build a wall and end Obama’s illegal executive amnesty programs.

Now one RINO Republican is trying to stab him in the back.

Donald Trump is expected to end Obama’s DACA amnesty program.

In 2012, Obama imposed executive orders that ended up granting amnesty to nearly one million illegal aliens.

On the campaign trail, Trump pledged to end the program as part of his efforts to put America first.

But establishment Republicans were horrified.

Colorado Republican Mike Coffman is scheming to force a vote on legislation to grant amnesty to the so-called “DREAMers.”

He is working to end-run the Republican majority by using a discharge petition.

If 218 members sign the petition, he will get his vote on the legislation he cosponsored with Illinois Democrat Luis Gutierrez – one of the most vocal champions of open borders and amnesty in Congress – that will grant amnesty to illegal aliens covered under DACA.

The Hill reports:

“A House Republican said Thursday he will launch an effort to force a vote on his bipartisan legislation shielding young immigrants who came to the U.S. illegally as children from deportation.

Rep. Mike Coffman (R-Colo.) announced he will file a discharge petition next week when the chamber returns to session. The move is all the more striking given that discharge petitions are usually a tool used by the House minority party.

Coffman’s announcement came amid multiple reports on Thursday that President Trump is expected to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program as soon as Friday. Nearly 800,000 people who came to the U.S. illegally as children have been granted work permits and deferred deportation under the program created under President Obama in 2012…

Coffman’s bill, which he introduced in January with Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D-Ill.), would extend work permits and deportation deferrals issued under DACA. It would only provide the provisional extension for three years, as a way to push Congress to pass longer-term immigration reform.”

All 194 Democrats are expected to sign the petition, so Coffman needs 23 other Republicans to join him in order to force a vote on his amnesty bill.

Establishment Republicans falsely believe amnesty is a winning political play.

But Donald Trump proved in 2016 that the path for a Republican victory runs through opposing amnesty and cracking down on illegal immigration.

His tough stances allowed him to win states like Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin—all states the GOP hadn’t carried in a generation.

RINOs like Coffman ignore the hard numbers for two reasons.

Number one, they refuse to ignore the ridiculous pundits who claim supporting amnesty is the only way to win Hispanic voters.

Trump did just as well with Hispanic voters as pro-amnesty GOP nominees John McCain and Mitt Romney.

The fact that Trump won and the amnesty-supporting nominees lost should tell you something.

Secondly, these pro-amnesty RINOs are also doing the bidding of the donor class.

Big businesses support amnesty because they want an endless supply of cheap foreign labor, which also helps the bottom line by depressing Americans wages.

So instead of working with Trump to implement his winning agenda, establishment RINOs are instead scheming to stab him in the back.
