Some Republicans in Congress are still pushing back against President Trump.

The President finally had enough and made an example of one of his most high-profile critics in Congress.

And now this Never Trump Republican just got career-ending news.

Congressman Mark Sanford of South Carolina was a member of the House Freedom Caucus.

But instead of working to pass Donald Trump’s conservative America First agenda, Sanford fashioned himself as a leading critic of President Trump.

While Sanford won the praise of left-wing journalists and cable TV bookers, it alienated many Trump supporters who saw him as just another conservative sell-out to the swamp.

And while many liberty minded and conservative considered Sanford to be one of their many others saw him as part of the Never Trump swamp — some going so far to call him a RINO (Republican in Name Only)

So Trump endorsed Sanford’s primary challenger Katie Arrington with a last minute tweet and ripped Sanford for his disloyalty.

Trump also included a cutting dig at Sanford resigning the governorship because he claimed to be hiking the Appalachian Trail when he was really canoodling with his Argentinean mistress.

President Trump wrote:

“Mark Sanford has been very unhelpful to me in my campaign to MAGA. He is MIA and nothing but trouble. He is better off in Argentina. I fully endorse Katie Arrington for Congress in SC, a state I love. She is tough on crime and will continue our fight to lower taxes. VOTE Katie!”

Arrington made use of this endorsement and blasted out a robocall to 50,000 Republicans.

She won more than 50 percent of the vote which prevented a runoff, and Trump’s late support helped boost Arrington over the top.

The morning after Sanford conceded the race, Trump praised Arrington and revealed he had decided to intervene in the race despite his advisors pushing him to remain neutral.

President Trump wrote:

“My political representatives didn’t want me to get involved in the Mark Sanford primary thinking that Sanford would easily win – but with a few hours left I felt that Katie was such a good candidate, and Sanford was so bad, I had to give it a shot. Congrats to Katie Arrington!”

Republican voters are continuing to stand by Donald Trump because the President is implementing the Make America Great Again agenda he campaigned.

Trump promised to overturn the status quo in Washington on immigration, trade, and foreign policy, and is continuing to rage against the corrupt Washington establishment.

By appearing on liberal media outlets like CNN and trashing the President, Sanford as doubling down on his role as a leading voice for the Never Trump.

Trump is already being attacked from the left by the Deep State, the so-called “mainstream” media, and the Democrats.

Republican voters realized the key issue was defending Trump from a silent coup designed to nullify the results of the 2016 election.

Sanford wasn’t the only Republican to suffer this fate.

Never Trumper Jeff Flake also made it his mission to play to the applause of the media and constantly criticize Trump as not normal and a racist.

He adopted the left wing defense of “institutions,” and it left him with an 18 percent approval rating. At that point, he was forced to tuck tail and retire from the Senate to avoid Sanford’s fate of being defeated by a pro-Trump primary challenger.

If the Deep State’s plan against Trump succeeds, it means the cherished American ideal of the people choosing their own leaders is thrown out the window.

Instead of recognizing the true threat to democracy,  Sanford assisted in the efforts to delegitimize and destroy Trump.

And they have paid bitterly for it.
