Democrats are constantly downplaying voter fraud and corruption of the ballot casting process.

Some of them go so far as to say it pretty much “never happens.”

In fact, leftists today claim that concerns over the integrity of our electoral process are racist – that only people who wish to keep immigrants and low-income citizens from voting question it.

The charges against Richard Robert Rawling though, demonstrate how legitimate concerns about the United States’ elections are.

Fox News reports:

A former elections worker in North Carolina was indicted Monday by a Durham County grand jury for mishandling provisional ballot results during the March 2016 primary election.

Richard Robert Rawling, 59, of Cary, was charged on the counts of obstruction of justice — a felony — and failure to discharge a duty of his office — a misdemeanor.

An investigation of the state’s elections board determined Rawling ran or ordered subordinates to run provisional ballots through tabulators more than once and made manual changes to the ballot count so the results of the provisional canvass would match the number of approved provisional ballots.

Elections board officials discovered the problem during a routine audit of primary results in April 2016.

The truth is, the people who want investigations of polling places and all of the verification that goes into counting votes want to protect the process that provides the representation part of America’s representative republic.

Ballots must be cast by citizens who have gone through a process of verification, and those citizens are entitled to a careful and accurate tally of votes.

However, it is not surprising that Democrats want to downplay these issues.

If the ballot casting process were protected everywhere, Democrats would be caught cheating.

The old joke goes that the number of dead people who vote Democrat in Chicago is “however many you need.”

In September of 2016, the Chicago Tribune reported that these jokes are based on more than just rumor and humor.

The Tribune reported on an extensive expose which revealed an organized system of turning out Chicago’s “graveyard vote,” keeping Democrats in power in the city, and in many ways, throughout the state of Illinois.

In the case of the North Carolina 2016 primary, Rawlings was caught due to the vigilance of the Election Board, which performs routine audits.

Fox News reports:

When Durham County elections officials notified State Board investigators about the issue in early April 2016, the State Board office opened an investigation. In October 2016, investigators provided a full report to the Durham County district attorney for possible prosecution.

According to the State Board of Elections and Ethics Enforcement, Rawling’s actions were committed to avoid having to report a discrepancy in the number of provisional ballots in possession of the Board of Elections and the number counted on canvass day.

Unlike regular ballots, provisional ballots aren’t counted at a polling place on Election Day. Provisional ballots are issued when there is a question about a voter’s eligibility. They are collected at polling places and then taken to county elections boards to determine if they should be counted.

“The State Board’s top priority is ensuring the integrity of elections so voters have confidence in the process,” Kim Westbrook Strach, executive director of the State Board of Elections and Ethics Enforcement, said in a statement. “We will continue to hold accountable elections workers and voters who violate election laws.”

If only all of the country, including Chicago, followed up on those who contribute to voter fraud and failure to protect the voting system so thoroughly.

One could never expect an issue like this to be fully investigated in insanely leftist cities like Chicago, L.A., or New York City, especially when it was clear the discrepancies concerned provisional ballots.

As the Fox News article stated, provisional ballots are used when there is a question about a voter’s eligibility.

One of the main questions of eligibility is whether or not someone is a citizen of the United States.

To leftists, being concerned about whether or not someone is legally eligible to vote is just a racist way to keep immigrants from voting.

So Democrats would never investigate such a discrepancy even if they were not actively cheating the system to begin with, but instead they are more concerned with sacrificing our representative voting system on the altar of political correctness.
